Player - instructions
=====================

In Player3 the database software has been changed from Borland to Firebird. This is more reliable, and compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

----------------------------------------

If you are new to Player :

1. Create a new folder for Player3, anywhere you like, suggest C:\player3

2. Unzip the Player3 files into the new Player3 folder.
If using Winzip, make sure the "Use folder names" option is checked to preserve subfolder(s).

3. Use Windows facilities to create a shortcut either on your desktop or under Start Menu

4. Run Player3.exe

5. Use "Browse | Genres | Load" menu options to load the standard set of Genres

6. Use "Load" menu option to load details of your existing MP3 & OGG music files

7. Use the "Assign" menu option to assign Album, Artist etc to several files at once (first select the files using CTRL+Click)

----------------------------------------

If you already use a previous version of Player3 :
1. Make a backup copy of your Player3 folder & subfolder(s), just in case.
2. Unzip the Player3 files into a temporary folder.
3. Copy just Player3.exe to your Player3 folder, overwriting the version already there.

----------------------------------------

If you are upgrading from Player2 :

1. Create a new folder for Player3, separate from any your existing Player folder, suggest C:\player3

2. Unzip the Player3 files into the new Player3 folder.
If using Winzip, make sure the "Use folder names" option is checked to preserve subfolder(s).

3. Run Plconv.exe to copy your Player2 database to Player3. The Player2 database, and the underlying
MP3/OGG files, remain unaffected by this.

4. Run Player3.exe

5. Use Windows facilities to create a shortcut either on your desktop or under Start Menu
